Michael Wayne "Grampy" Gupton DRY FORK - Micheal Wayne "Grampy" Gupton, 58, of 276 Daniel Ln., Dry Fork, Va., died Sunday, October 6, 2013, at his home. He was born on July 27, 1955, in Henderson, N.C., the son of the late Joseph Gupton and the late Shirley Gupton Gardner. Grampy loved to play golf and was employed by Builders Discount and had previously worked for Columbia Forest Products for 35 years. His life was his children and grandchildren and the love of his life was his "Meme". In addition to his wife Margaret, he is survived by children, Joseph Wayne Gupton of Washington, D.C., Lisa Marie Powell of Dry Fork, Va. and her son, Kyle Stephen Griffith, Robin Lee Hedrick and Shawn Bear of Gloucester, Va. and her children, Shane Hedrick, Cameron Bear, and Dawn Marie Scearce of Hampton. His extended family includes children, Dave and Kim Abts; grandchildren, Aaron Tyler Abts and Ashlyn Brooke Abts. One Brother, James Gupton of Danville; two sisters, Debbie Jefferson and her husband, Mark, their children, Michael and Adam, and Cindy Carter and her husband, Terry, and their children, James Ryan and his wife, Katherine, and Bobbie Jo Gupton and Trey Campbell. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gupton was preceded in death by his step-father, Bob Gardner, and one brother, Dean Gupton. A memorial service will be conducted at Scott Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Percy Younger officiating. The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. and at other times will be at the residence. Scott Funeral Home in Chatham is serving the Gupton family.
