"We've got Donald Trump. We've got his son. We've had Ivanka. What does the other side have? They have crazy uncle Joe Biden."
That's the rallying cry of Rick Saccone, the Republican trying keep Pennsylvania's 18th congressional district red in Tuesday's special election. Saccone, a 60-year old state representative, is trying to hold off a challenge from Democrat Conor Lamb, a 33-year-old Marine and former federal prosecutor who has pulled even in the polls in this heavily Republican district won by President Trump by 20 points in 2016.
The race likely will provide clues for the November midterms. A comfortable win by Saccone would be a positive sign for Republicans. A victory by Lamb (or even a narrow loss) will give Democrats hope of a House takeover.
