New flower shop to open downtown this spring

A new full-service florist will open after Mother’s Day in downtown Lynchburg.

The Hip Tulip will be located inside the 4,000 square-foot space at 1220 Main Street right across from the Lynchburg Community Market.

Kelli Willis, who is moving from Connecticut to Appomattox County, said she saw the space was available and “snatched it right up.”

“The location is awesome,” she said. “I’m happy to have walk-ins and meet people from the area.”

The flower shop will also service events, weddings and funerals. Willis plans to sell local items like tea and candles as well as cards.

She hopes to eventually hire three employees.

“I’m very excited about this, it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” she said.
