Supporters gathered Thursday night at Liberty University for a prayer rally calling for a third-party investigation of the school's handling of sexual-abuse complaints.

The rally followed a press conference held at Shoemakers American Grille in downtown Lynchburg where nationally recognized anti-sexual abuse advocate Rachael Denhollander called for the investigation. The press conference and rally were co-hosted by student organization Justice for Janes and alumni organization Save71.

At the rally and press conference, Justice for Janes representative and LU senior Hailey Wilkinson read aloud the story of Jane Doe 2, who wishes to remain anonymous, and how she said her case was handled by the university.

Save71 founder Dustin Wahl and former LU professor Karen Swallow Prior also spoke at both events, offering their insights into how the university should proceed with an investigation.

University president Jerry Prevo attended the rally and spoke with attendees at the conclusion of the event. While addressing questions from Wahl and Wilkinson, Prevo stated "a lot" of policy changes will be made during Friday's board of trustees meeting and there will be transparency going forward with an investigation.

Another prayer walk and rally is scheduled for early Friday afternoon, when attendees plan to make their way up to the Liberty Mountain Conference Center where the Liberty board of trustees will be meeting inside.
