For the first time since the Queen Anne-style home was added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1976, there are plans for an addition to the property — a structure dubbed "Pop's Chicken House," which will sit on the foundation of the original building. 

A re-zoning request and two conditional use permits were granted by the Town of Bedford council for redevelopment of dilapidated historic buildings along a stretch of railroad in town following public hearings at a town council meeting on Tuesday. Roanoke-based Sycamore Development Company plans to convert the existing 3-story brick structure at 620 Railroad Avenue in the Town of Bedford into a mixed use of apartment units and commercial space
