After several months of searching, Bedford County has found its new deputy county administrator. Justin Stauder, a graduate of Jefferson Forest High School, will be joining the county administration team beginning November 1, the county said in a news release on Monday.

Some changes may be coming for Bedford County short-term rental properties, a designation which includes Airbnb properties. The changes are a response to what county staff felt to be an inadequate ordinance. The biggest driver for the changes are to enable more efficient, better enforcement of short-term rental regulations, particularly regarding the number of occupants on a property.

After a week of public outcry in response to the potential sale of the Bedford County Nursing Home to a private, for-profit company, Bedford County administrator Robert Hiss announced at a special-called public hearing Monday night that the company the board and County officials were prepared to sell to withdrew their offer to buy the nursing home earlier Monday afternoon.
