Wagers worth watching in Stanley Cup Finals Game 5: Lightning vs. Avalanche

Stanley Cup Avalanche Lightning Hockey

Avalanche center Nazem Kadri scores the game-winning goal against Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy during overtime of Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Wednesday night in Tampa, Fla.

The Colorado Avalanche are within a win of capturing their first Stanley Cup in 21 years.

But not without a measure of controversy.

Nazem Kadri scored at 12:02 of overtime Wednesday night to lift the Avalanche to a 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 4 of the Finals and a 3-1 series lead.

But the Lightning and coach Jon Cooper believe Colorado had too many players on the ice when Kadri tallied. Four on-ice officials did not see a violation.

Two-time defending champion Tampa Bay now faces a must-win in Game 5 Friday night in Denver.

The Lightning, who led 2-1 entering the third period, got goals from Anthony Cirelli and Victor Hedman. They put 11 shots on goal in the OT compared to Colorado's three. Tampa Bay goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy made 35 saves, including a breakaway in the extra session.

It wasn't enough to knot things up.

The Avalanche offense was fueled by goals from Kadri, Nathan MacKinnon and Andrew Cogliano. Darcy Kuemper was strong in goal with 37 stops after being yanked in Game 3.

Can Colorado hoist Lord Stanley's chalice at home with a win in the fifth frame? Or will the Lightning again prove resilient, show the heart of a champion and keep three-peat hopes alive? FrontPageBets looks at interesting wagers available in Game 5.
