The Nelson boys finished tied for sixth and girls finished 16th at the 2A Regional track meet on Friday at Monticello High School.
“The girls performed very well at the regional meet. Some were asked to do some events they never had run during the season,”said Govs coach Kevin Walker. “They handled themselves very well and gave great effort.
“On the boys side, we didn’t compete as well as we should have. We left a lot of points out there on Friday and could have had a top-five finish. Some individuals had lost focus and their minds weren’t where we needed to them to be. We are going to refocus this week and place emphasis on having great performances at the 2A state track meet coming up this weekend at Radford University.”
