With a run of five consecutive bowl game appearances, the Liberty Flames might be college football’s hottest mid-major program. To get in on the action, football fans have the opportunity to catch a pair of upcoming Conference USA contests under the lights of Williams Stadium.
Tuesday, Oct. 8: Liberty vs. Florida International University
The Liberty Football team would like to invite you and your church to Williams Stadium to watch the 2023 CUSA Champions take on Florida International University. Enjoy an evening of community, faith, football and fun.
The action starts well in advance of the 7 p.m. kickoff.
With Liberty Athletics, each contest is more than just a game; this weeknight, nationally televised contest is the perfect event for families to gather, celebrate and enjoy fellowship. Pregame family-friendly festivities will include inflatables, cornhole, giant Jenga and giant Connect Four. For church groups, all head pastors in attendance will be recognized on the field during the first half.
Additional opportunities for church groups to earn donations for tickets sold and free Flames basketball tickets are available. Contact the Flames ticket office at 434.582.7328 for more information.
Wednesday, Oct. 30: Liberty vs. Jacksonville State
The Flames’ vaunted air attack — led by junior quarterback Kaidon Salter — is likely to put a fright into the visiting Gamecocks defense, but it won’t be the only scary sighting at Williams Stadium for this nationally televised contest.
Prior to the 7 p.m. kickoff, children 12 and under will be invited to Sparky’s Spooktacular in the football team’s indoor practice facility from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The event will also feature trick-or-treating and a performance by the Spirit of the Mountain Marching Band. Children wearing a costume will receive a free ticket.
Follow the Flames’ quest for glory
Fresh off a 13-1 season that culminated in a Fiesta Bowl bid, coach Chadwell’s Flames have grand aspirations for 2024. Led by Salter, a returning starting quarterback, the Flames feature a balanced offensive attack. A threat to beat the opposition both on the ground and through the air, Salter entered the 2024 season on the Maxwell Award Preseason Watch List. The Maxwell is given to the nation’s top college football player.
Eyeing a second consecutive Conference USA title — and another appearance in a marquee bowl game — the Flames are off to a fast start to the 2024 season.
