The Salvation Army of Lynchburg extends unwavering appreciation to the generous and caring members of our community who made this Christmas season truly special for hundreds of Lynchburg families. Your support has brought joy and relief during a time that is often challenging for those facing hardships.
Consider the story of 4-year-old Tina, whose parents separated just before Christmas. She went to live with her grandmother, who, on a tight fixed income, struggled to support her granddaughter. Turning to The Salvation Army for help, Tina's grandmother received groceries, including items for a holiday meal. The Salvation Army also supplied presents for Tina, making Christmas a special and memorable occasion for a hurting little girl.
Your generous donations during the Christmas season enable The Salvation Army to help many families and individuals in Greater Lynchburg. Major Caleb Prieto emphasizes, "The ongoing provision of programs and services for those facing crisis situations relies heavily on the dedicated support we receive from our community."
Special recognition is extended to the dedicated volunteer bellringers, River Ridge Mall, civic groups, churches, banks, and other companies that supplied space and support for the collection of food and toys. Lastly, The Salvation Army expresses overwhelming gratitude to Chris Mabry, whose Mabry Auto Group generously supports The Salvation Army through a charitable contribution made in recognition of customers who choose to buy one of their automobiles throughout the year.
"Our deepest gratitude goes to this incredible community. Through your support, we were able to offer essential items such as food, clothing, gift cards, school supplies, books, and toys to many individuals who expressed immense thanks for your kindness," says Major Caleb Prieto.
Christmas is a busy and crucial period for The Salvation Army, with increased demand for services. Programs like the Angel Tree and the Red Kettle campaign focus on ensuring that those facing financial difficulties can experience the joy of the holiday season.
While it is too early to calculate results for the 2023 Christmas Campaign, The Salvation Army of Lynchburg will stretch donations to help as many people as it can as their programs and services are dedicated to helping individuals and families in need 365 days a year. This commitment involves supporting those in crisis, supplying shelter to those in need, offering meals to the hungry, and spreading hope and love to all.
Donations make a lasting impact throughout the year, allowing The Salvation Army to deliver critical services daily. In the previous year alone, our local organization served over 27,000 meals and provided 628 individuals with more than 14,000 nights of shelter within the Greater Lynchburg region.
"In addition to helping assure every child feels the joy of Christmas morning, we're committed to serving our community 365 days a year," says Caleb Prieto, Major for The Salvation Army of Greater Lynchburg. "When people are in need, The Salvation Army is often their first source of help."
