First National Bank will build a new branch next to its existing Riverside Branch at 2600 Riverside Drive in Danville -- but customers won't lose a day of service while it goes up!
The community bank, headquartered in Altavista, broke ground on the project on October 23, 2026. The current Riverside Branch will stay open throughout construction, so everyday banking continues as usual while crews work next door.
What Happens to the Old Branch
Once the new building opens, the existing branch will be demolished, and a portion of the footprint will be returned to green space. The bank worked with LE&D Professionals, PC of Danville on the site plan. Blair Construction, Inc., headquartered in Gretna, will serve as general contractor.
A Long-Term Investment in Danville and Pittsylvania County
For First National Bank, the project is about community. “This investment reflects First National Bank’s vested interest in the Danville-Pittsylvania County market and commitment to serving the area for years to come. We aim to be the community bank of choice and will continue to work hard to build strong, lasting relationships with our customers,” stated Aubrey H. “Todd” Hall, III, President and Chief Executive Officer of First National Bank.
